concert promoters

concert promoters
Concert promoters are responsible for hiring the venue, arranging the stages, the personal address systems, lighting, caterers, security and advertising, and coordinating ticket sales. The most influential and successful concert promoter in the UK is Harvey Goldsmith, who started out organizing university concerts. The Concert Promoters Association was formed in 1980, chaired by Goldsmith, to counteract the negative image of wheeler-dealer surrounding promoters. Many promoters also work the festival circuits, as well as the main rock venues. SJM are a massive organization, based in the north of England, but operating on a nationwide basis. Mean Fiddler promote the Phoenix and Reading festivals, as well as running their own venues and nationwide tours. Other main promoters are Metropolis, MCP and Riverman.
